Job Description: Windows Administrator – VMware vSphere Experience: 6+ Years Key Skills: Windows Server Administration, VMware vSphere/ESXi, Infrastructure Migration, PowerShell Automation Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Windows Administrator with strong VMware vSphere expertise to manage and execute server upgrades, infrastructure migrations, and virtualization operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Windows Server environments, VMware ESXi/vSphere, and complex server-role migrations. The candidate should be adaptable, proactive, and capable of independently troubleshooting technical challenges while ensuring infrastructure stability, security, and minimal downtime. Key Responsibilities Server Migration and Upgrades: Plan and execute parallel upgrades and side-by-side migrations of legacy Windows Servers to modern operating systems within highly available VMware environments. VMware Administration: Provision, configure, migrate, and manage virtual machines and resources across VMware vSphere/ESXi environments. Server Role Migration: Migrate specialized server roles while preserving configurations, permissions, dependencies, and service continuity. Testing and Validation: Perform pre- and post-migration checks to validate application functionality, system stability, performance, access, and security settings. Patch and Lifecycle Management: Implement approved Windows Server and VMware ESXi/vCenter patches and updates, coordinating maintenance windows to minimize disruption. Performance Optimization: Monitor CPU, memory, storage, and capacity utilization. Recommend virtual machine right-sizing and resource-allocation improvements. PowerShell Scripting: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for routine administration, configuration validation, patching, and system health reporting. Documentation and Coordination: Maintain migration plans, rollback procedures, standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and infrastructure diagrams. Coordinate changes and production cutovers with relevant teams. Technical Qualifications Windows Server Administration: Strong hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Group Policy. VMware Virtualization: Extensive experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi, virtual machine provisioning, migration, resource management, and troubleshooting. Remote Desktop Services (RDS): Experience migrating RDS session hosts, Connection Brokers, licensing services, and RD Gateway configurations. PKI / Certificate Services: Experience migrating and upgrading Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS), preferably in a two-tier or dual-certificate-server architecture. File Server Migration: Experience migrating large-scale file shares, DFS namespaces, and preserving NTFS permissions. Print Server Migration: Experience consolidating and migrating enterprise print servers, printer configurations, and drivers. SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS): Experience upgrading and migrating SSRS environments. PowerShell: Ability to automate administrative tasks and perform system configuration checks through scripting. Infrastructure Migration: Proven experience with server upgrades, dependency analysis, rollback planning, and production cutovers. Core Competencies Adaptability: Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing infrastructure requirements. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex migration and dependency issues. Ownership: Ability to manage migration activities independently, from planning through implementation and validation. Communication: Effective coordination with network teams, application owners, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders. Execution and Reliability: Focus on successful migrations, minimal downtime, and stable production environments. Preferred Candidate Profile Candidates with strong hands-on experience in Windows Server administration, VMware vSphere/ESXi, PowerShell scripting, and specialized server-role migrations will be preferred.
